Quality assurance during construction in accordance with EN 1090 - avoid errors before they occur
In metal and steel construction, careful production and control are decisive for the durability and safety of a building.
As International Welding Engineer (IWE), Certified VT2/PT2 examiner and publicly appointed expert I support building owners, manufacturing companies and planning offices in the Quality assurance during construction in accordance with DIN EN 1090 and ISO 3834.
I supervise the execution of welding and assembly work on Conformity to standards, documentation and execution quality - so that defects do not arise in the first place.
Scope of services and testing
I support companies and clients throughout the entire quality assurance process:
- Welding supervision and welding procedure qualification (WPS/WPQR)
→ Monitoring of welding processes, personnel qualification, process approval in accordance with ISO 9606 and EN ISO 15614. - Material testing and labeling
→ Control of material certificates according to EN 10204 (3.1/3.2), traceability and material selection. - Construction site and workshop monitoring
→ Inspection of weld seams, connections, component marking and assembly quality. - Documentation check and system audit in accordance with EN 1090
→ Review of FPC (Fabrication Production Control) documents, test protocols and certificates. - Final inspection and acceptance test
→ Visual and measurement inspection of the finished construction including photo report and list of defects.
Typical errors and test findings
- Missing or invalid welding procedure qualifications (WPQR)
- Incomplete EN 1090 documentation (FPC)
- Deviations between drawing and execution
- Incorrect material labeling or mix-up
- Welding supervision or personnel qualification not verified
- Corrosion protection defects due to uncleaned weld seams or lack of post-treatment
Procedure for quality assurance
- Preparation and document review
Analysis of production documents, statics, welding and material certificates. - Construction and production supervision
Regular checks in production and assembly according to test plan. - NDT examinations (VT2/PT2)
Detection of defects in weld seams without damaging the material. - Final and acceptance report
Defect report, photo documentation, assessment according to DIN/EN standards.
