However, errors in planning, production or assembly can lead to massive damage or safety risks lead.

As Publicly appointed and sworn expert for the metalworking trade I check glass façades, mullion-transom systems and roof glazing with regard to Load-bearing capacity, fastening, thermal insulation and tightness and provide expert opinions when leaks, glass breakage or problems with fixings and connections occur and an independent assessment is required.
I evaluate both Technical defects in existing buildings as well as New constructions as part of quality assurance and building inspections.

Scope of testing and evaluation

I inspect glass roofs and façade elements in accordance with the recognized rules of technology, in particular:

• Load-bearing capacity and static verifications
  → Inspection of mullion-transom connections, brackets, holders, anchors.
• Fastening systems and material combinations
  → Evaluation of screw connections, clamping systems, glass holders, sealing profiles.
• Tightness and drainage
  → Check the connection details, glass overlaps and water drainage.
• Thermal and sound insulation
  → Testing in accordance with DIN 4108 and DIN 4109, especially for insulating glass and soundproof glazing.
• Corrosion protection and surface treatment
  → Inspection of coatings, powder coatings, galvanic systems.
• Safety glazing and shatter resistance
  → Assessment according to TRAV, TRPV, DIN 18008 (components above passenger traffic).

Visual and technical recording
Recording the current status
Photographic documentation, inspection of fastenings and connections.

Measurement and function test

Leak test
Testing of profile and glass connections, simulation of load and driving rain if necessary.

Analysis of planning and production documents
Comparison with workshop drawings, structural analysis certificates, assembly plans and execution details.

Normative evaluation
Testing in accordance with DIN, EN, TRAV, TRPV, DIN 18008 and manufacturer's specifications.

Expert opinion
Objective, comprehensible assessment including description of defects, root cause analysis and remediation recommendation.
